The biotechnology company, IMMUNOTECH S.A. was founded in 1982 with aim of developing industrial applications for monoclonal antibodies.
The decision to place Immunotech in Marseille was motivated by the location of one of the biggest French university specialized in immunology.
From beginning, the company progressed successfully and marketed many innovative products, several of them patented. Its offer covered diagnostics for cell typing - antibodies employed in the characterization and analysis of the cell of the organism as well as diagnostics for clinical and research applications - assay kits for the determination of hormones, tumor markers, cytokines, etc.
Incidentally, the history of the Czech part of the company started also in 1982 when the Radioimmunoanalytical Department was founded within the Radioisotope Research and Application Institute in Prague. This division was transformed into the independent company and went into the strategic partnership with IMMUNOTECH S.A. As a result IMMUNOTECH a.s. was established in Prague in 1992.
Both sites continued with the development, manufacture and sale of immunodiagnostic kits in RIA, ELISA and ILMA versions, sharing the same know-how of unique, patented technology of the solid phase coating with monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies.
In 1995, IMMUNOTECH became part of the company Coulter. Not long after that, Coulter merged with Beckman and the new company Beckman-Coulter was formed. An extensive scientific and technological knowledge base was combined with outstanding strategic experience. IMMUNOTECH became part of one of the biggest companies operating in the global clinical diagnostic marketplace.
Moreover, in 2005 Beckman-Coulter acquired American company Diagnostic System Laboratories (DSL), and became thus via joined Immunotech and DSL product portfolio the biggest producer on the world’s RIA market.
Now, twenty four years after its foundation, IMMUNOTECH employs more than 300 people. Besides activities in manual immunoassay field, Immunotech Marseilles continues with its production of antibodies for flow cytometry, and it is also involved in development of assays for Beckman Coulter automated immunoassay platform - for Access and DxI instruments.
IMMUNOTECH supplies its manual immunoassays via the marketing network of Beckman-Coulter, as well as via its distributors. The kits are delivered across Europe and also to Africa, North and South America and to the Middle and Far East Asia, into more than 70 countries in total. The company has been using a quality assurance system certified under I.S. EN ISO 13485 and I.S. EN ISO 9001 (certifying body: The National Standards Authority of Ireland).
The IMMUNOTECH catalog offers more than 120 immunoanalytical kits for diagnostic and research purposes. These primarily come from IMMUNOTECH´s own production in Marseille and Prague.
IMMUNOTECH, perfectly integrated into the Beckman Coulter group, looks to the future with great confidence.
